Mahama discussed the difficulties of striking a balance between the demands of efficient governance and public expectations during his speech at the Presidential Dinner in Accra on January 8.
“You wouldn’t want to be in my position when thousands of resumes are being submitted despite your pledge to choose only 60 ministers. Then perhaps some will be let down,” he said.
As stated by Myjoyonline Mahama underlined that although the size of government is an important factor, contributions from all facets of society—not just cabinet appointments—are essential to the success of his administration.
“This administration’s success will guarantee us another term, possibly with a different leader. But in order for Ghanaians to continue to trust us, we need to get this right,” he stated.

Mahama advised his government to steer clear of the mistakes that caused the New Patriotic Party to lose the public’s trust, citing lessons learned from the previous administration.
“Fighting for political power is pointless if we are only going to make the same mistakes,” he stated.
Mahama stated that in spite of the difficulties, he is committed to keeping his word and creating a government that pays attention to and addresses the concerns of the populace.
