Ghana will host the second edition of the Africa Prosperity Dialogue (APD) next year, a high-level summit that aims to foster economic growth and development across the continent.
The event, which will be held in the Eastern Region of Ghana, will bring together more than 10 African heads of state, as well as leaders from the private and public sectors, to discuss trade, investment, infrastructure, and innovation.
The theme of the summit is “Delivering prosperity in Africa: Produce, add value, trade”, and it is organized by the Africa Prosperity Network, a Ghanaian-led initiative that promotes sustainable economic growth in Africa.
The summit will also leverage the opportunities presented by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), a landmark agreement that creates a single market of 1.2 billion people.
A Platform for Collaboration and Partnership
The APD was launched last year in Ghana, with the participation of some African leaders, including Ghana’s President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and ministers of finance and energy from across the continent.
According to a report by Daily Graphic, The first edition of the summit resulted in a compact that outlined the commitments and actions of the stakeholders to advance Africa’s prosperity.
The compact was presented to the African Union (AU) by President Akufo-Addo at its summit in February this year, and it serves as a blueprint to guide the continent’s economic transformation.
The second edition of the summit will build on the success of the first one and will feature panel discussions, keynote speeches, breakout sessions, and networking opportunities.
The summit will also provide a platform for sharing best practices, exploring new opportunities, and forging new partnerships and initiatives that can contribute to Africa’s economic development.
A Vision for A Prosperous Africa
The vision behind the APD is rooted in a deep commitment to unlocking Africa’s economic potential and creating opportunities for its people.
According to the organizers, the summit is driven by the belief that Africa can achieve prosperity through producing, adding value, and trading its abundant resources and talents.
The summit also recognizes the importance of innovation and technology as key drivers of economic growth and competitiveness.
The organizers hope that the summit will inspire and empower the participants to take action and make a positive impact on the continent.
They also say that the summit will end on a note of hope, as the participants will renew their commitment to work together for a prosperous Africa.
