The President of Malta, George Vella, recently assured that Malta is committed to fostering meaningful and tangible cooperation with Ghana. This commitment was expressed during a joint press briefing with Ghana’s President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
President Vella’s visit to Ghana, his first to a Sub-Saharan country, underscores the importance Malta places on its relationship with Ghana. The visit aimed to strengthen the already cordial relations between the two nations and explore new areas of mutual benefit.
The Maltese President highlighted the interest from both sides to deepen their collaboration in various sectors. These include trade, agriculture and fisheries, financial services, tourism and culture, climate change, environment, and pharmaceuticals.
To facilitate this cooperation, a joint commission has been established to implement progress in all areas of mutual interest. Negotiations are underway in areas such as higher education, health services, migration, hospitality sectors, and trade.
President Vella expressed optimism that this cooperation would lead to further exchanges that would create opportunities for young people in Ghana1. He stated, “Malta is willing to create further opportunities for more Ghanaians to study, specialize, and upscale at higher educational institutes in Malta”.
