Tema MCE Predicts John Mahama’s Defeat in 2024 Elections

Yohane Ashitey Asserts NDC's Loss, Cites Spiritual Challenges

by Adenike Adeodun

In a bold declaration, Yohane Amarh Ashitey, the Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, asserts that former President John Dramani Mahama and his party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), are poised for defeat in the upcoming 2024 elections.

Ashitey’s statement came to light following the NDC’s campaign launch at Jubilee Park in Tamale, where internal party dynamics hinted at concerns about their electoral prospects. During the event, Mahama issued a call to action to the Central Region delegation, urging rigorous campaign efforts in anticipation of the NDC’s manifesto launch. This plea, according to Ashitey, underscored a palpable anxiety within the NDC about their ability to secure a victory against the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Furthermore, comments by Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey, the General Secretary of the NDC, added weight to this perspective. Kwetey admitted the party’s uphill battle in the upcoming elections, a sentiment that resonates with Ashitey’s views on the opposition’s lack of confidence.

The discourse took a contentious turn when Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the NDC’s National Chairman, demanded that President Akufo-Addo commit to a peaceful transfer of power should his party lose the election. Ashitey critiqued this demand as a sign of desperation and uncertainty about the NDC’s electoral fate, suggesting that such demands reflect a deeper anxiety about the election’s outcome.

Adding a spiritual dimension to the political discussion, Ashitey referenced claims by religious figures that Mahama is spiritually barred from the presidency. These assertions have been echoed by figures such as Nigerian spiritualist Primate Elijah Ayodele, hinting at unresolved spiritual issues that need to be addressed before Mahama can aspire to lead again.

With the NDC’s manifesto launch on the horizon, the political atmosphere is rife with speculation and strategy. As the parties ramp up their efforts, the claims of spiritual setbacks and internal apprehensions paint a complex picture of the challenges facing John Mahama and the NDC. As the election approaches, all eyes will be on how these dynamics unfold and whether the prophetic and political predictions about Mahama’s chances will hold true.
