President Akufo-Addo has extended heartfelt congratulations to the victors of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) recent parliamentary primaries, especially in constituencies with incumbent NPP Members of Parliament. In a statement issued on Sunday, January 28, the President commended the mix of experience and youth among the elected candidates.
He expressed strong confidence in the elected candidates’ capability to “secure a majority for the NPP in the 9th Parliament of the 4th Republic and help return an NPP presidential candidate to office on 7th January 2025.”
President Akufo-Addo also acknowledged the collective efforts of the party’s rank and file, as well as the crucial roles played by the Electoral Commission, security services, and the media in the successful conduct of the primaries.
Addressing the party’s unity, he urged those who did not win to support the successful candidates, reinforcing the party’s tradition of solidarity. “Today’s losers can be tomorrow’s winners,” he remarked, highlighting the dynamic nature of political contests.
The President emphasized the party’s goal to “Break the Eight,” a reference to winning a third consecutive presidential term, a feat yet to be achieved in Ghana’s political history. He called for unity and steadfastness in this endeavor, stating, “…if we are to Break the Eight, which I know is very possible, then we must stay true to this tradition.”
President Akufo-Addo stressed the importance of maintaining good conduct, strengthening the party’s organization, and working collectively towards a resounding victory in the 2024 elections. “Let us stay the course, conduct ourselves well before the Ghanaian people, and win the 2024 elections,” he concluded.
His message resonates with optimism and a strategic call to action, rallying the NPP members towards a unified effort to continue their agenda of progress and prosperity for all parts of Ghana.
