Kotoko started off cautiously, but on a counterattack, they were the first to have an opportunity on goal.
Despite being through on goal, Kwame Opoku, who had seven goals in 13 prior league games, fumbled the ball.
In the seventh minute, when Opoku was getting close to the penalty box, Konadu Yiadom made a timely tackle to block his shot.
Hearts subsequently seized charge, although Kotoko’s defense was not seriously threatened by their slow build-up play.
During the first half, Kotoko, who were happy to sit back, found it difficult to generate any genuine chances when they tried to counterattack.
The game ended without any goals at halftime after neither team was able to create any meaningful chances.
Hearts generated the first genuine opportunity shortly after the restart, which gave the second half a more energetic start.
Second half starts bright but ends with no real breakthrough
Hussein Mohammed put Stephen Appiah Asare through on goal, but his shot went straight at Kotoko goalie Mohammed Camara.
Kotoko tried to gain the upper hand by pushing up the field, but Baba Yahaya, Albert Amoah, and Opoku were not a serious threat.
According to Joy news, Raphael Amponsah of Hearts pulled away from his marker at the hour mark, but his shot went harmlessly over the bar.
Amoah’s fast shot inside the penalty area missed the mark, but Kotoko came near ten minutes before the end of the game.
Hearts goalkeeper Benjamin Asare easily collected all crosses after Amoah’s effort set off a barrage of raids down Kotoko’s right.
Hearts of Oak are now five points behind rivals Asante Kotoko in sixth position with 46 points following Sunday’s stalemate.
