Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has confidently assured party members that their record in governance surpasses that of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its leader, John Dramani Mahama. Speaking at the NPP’s manifesto launch in the Western Region on August 18, Dr. Bawumia urged supporters to believe in the party’s accomplishments as they gear up for the 2024 elections.

He highlighted the NPP’s significant achievements in areas like infrastructure, education, healthcare, and digital transformation. Among the standout initiatives he mentioned were the Free Senior High School policy, the One District One Factory program, and the digitalization of public services—efforts he says have greatly improved the lives of Ghanaians.

Dr. Bawumia argued that these accomplishments clearly demonstrate the NPP’s superior governance compared to the opposition. He also pointed out how the NPP managed the economy during tough global challenges, like the COVID-19 pandemic and rising inflation, showcasing the party’s ability to navigate the country through difficult times.

Despite economic challenges, the NPP government, according to Dr. Bawumia, has continued to implement policies aimed at easing hardships and promoting recovery. In contrast, he criticized the NDC for not fulfilling promises made while in office, particularly in addressing issues like power shortages and economic instability—problems the NPP has worked to resolve.

Dr. Bawumia encouraged NPP members to emphasize these achievements when engaging with voters as the election approaches. He wrapped up his speech by calling for unity within the party and urging members to stay focused on securing victory in 2024.

“Ladies and Gentlemen,” Dr. Bawumia said, “if there was any doubt, I believe it is crystal clear from the data-backed account we have given that our overall performance and track record are superior to that of my opponent and his party in virtually every sector! But, I believe as a former president and a proud student of history, he knows that and that is one part of the reason why he is avoiding a debate.”
