Celebrities from Ghana and abroad join forces to raise funds for social development through basketball

The Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra was the venue for a thrilling celebrity basketball game on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. The event, organized by Who’s Got Game, a charity founded by former basketball player Dayo Okewale, aimed to raise funds for social development through basketball.

Star-studded Lineup

The exhibition game featured talented basketball players from Ghana and the diaspora, who showcased their skills and entertained the crowd. According to a report by My Joy Online, some of the players included Nicholas Kodjoe, son of Hollywood star Boris Kodjoe, and Michael Blackson, a comedian and actor.

However, the game also attracted other international celebrities, such as Reggie Rock Stone, Fuse ODJ, Majid Michel, Michael Dapaah, Ayo Beatz, and many others. They came to support the cause and enjoy the basketball action.

Basketball for Social Change

Who’s Got Game is an innovative sports charity that uses basketball as a tool for social change and development. In addition, the organization specializes in the development of basketball and aims to use sports as a tool to educate, inform, develop, and encourage healthy living through the game.

Dayo Okewale, founder of Who’s Got Game, said the event was a success and thanked the celebrities and fans. He also said that he hoped to inspire more young people to pursue their dreams through basketball.

Advice from The Stars

Nicholas Kodjoe, who plays basketball himself, had some advice for the upcoming Ghanaian basketball players. He said:

“I love basketball no matter what. I’m going to show up, play, and love it anytime. My message to the younger generation just starting in basketball is, to just keep working. You never know what’s going to happen, so you must keep your head down and keep working, and it will pay off in one way or another. You never know, so just stick to it.”
