Kwame Baffo, widely known as Abronye DC, the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is gearing up to lead a 36-day procession in the heart of Accra, Ghana. The event, organized under the banner of the Patriotic Forum for Accountable Governance (PaFFAG), is scheduled to commence on December 1, 2023, and conclude on January 5, 2024.

In a letter dated October 23, 2023, addressed to the Ghana Police Service, Abronye DC outlined the purpose of this grand procession—to express profound gratitude to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his government.

This act of appreciation is rooted in the government’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and its remarkable efforts in steering the nation towards economic recovery in the post-pandemic era. The procession’s letter stated, “We are writing to request permission to hold a peaceful procession in Accra from 1st December 2023 to 5th January 2024. The purpose of this procession or assembly is to express our heartfelt appreciation to His Excellency President Akufo Addo for sustaining the nation through the COVID-19 pandemic and setting the nation on the path of economic recovery.”

The chosen route for this procession, spanning 37 bus stops to Jubilee House, has been carefully selected for its visibility and accessibility. The letter also reassured authorities, stating, “We assure you that we will take all necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of all participants and the general public.”

In a closing note, the letter expressed the group’s eagerness to meet with a representative from the police department to discuss their plans in more detail and address any concerns or questions that may arise.

This demonstration of appreciation for President Akufo-Addo’s leadership has drawn attention from various quarters. It reflects the sentiments of many who have been impacted by the government’s response to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and its dedication to the nation’s economic recovery.

As the procession date approaches, it is expected to become a unifying event that transcends political boundaries. It serves as a reminder of the importance of acknowledging and celebrating the efforts of leaders who have worked tirelessly to steer their nations through trying times.

In the spirit of unity and gratitude, Ghanaians eagerly await the commencement of this procession, which will undoubtedly be a historic and memorable event.
