The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, has weighed in on the current state of the Black Stars, Ghana’s senior male national football team. Recent performances by the team have left many Ghanaians concerned about their prospects in the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
During the October international break, Ghana participated in two friendly matches against Mexico and the USA. Unfortunately, the Black Stars’ performance in these games was lackluster and failed to inspire confidence.
According to a report by Ghana Web, Ghana suffered a 2-0 defeat to Mexico and a resounding 4-0 loss to the US Men’s national team in these encounters.
Expressing his concern about the team’s recent performance, GFA President Kurt Okraku shared his thoughts on Facebook, stating, “Our Black Stars must rise again, but I’m a disturbed servant.” His words reflect the collective unease among fans and stakeholders regarding the team’s current form.
Looking ahead, Ghana is set to begin the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup next month. In these qualifiers, the Black Stars will face off against Madagascar and Comoros. The hope is that the national team can regroup, address its issues, and perform at its best in these crucial upcoming matches.
