The once-controversial Delta Force, believed to be linked with the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has resurfaced, sparking intrigue across political and social spectrums.
A video now trending on social media, including platforms like Facebook and the rebranded “X”, reveals several group members in an undisclosed location. Their solemn demeanor is palpable.
The spokesperson emphasizes the group’s historical significance and announces their staunch endorsement of Kennedy Agyapong for NPP’s flagbearer. Their support, they claim, is driven by Agyapong’s close ties with grassroots movements and his past support to Delta Force.
Recall that in April 2019, the Delta Force declared its dissolution. This decision was a nod to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s call to disband vigilante groups. Kwadwo Bamba, their leader, had assured that while the group’s name might fade, their allegiance to the NPP’s values remained steadfast.
They had previously courted controversy in 2017, notably disrupting the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council and later, a Circuit Court, triggering national headlines.
Bamba, post-dissolution, served as the Deputy Director of Operations for the NPP’s youth wing. He was adamant that their past vigilante acts would not repeat, especially before the 2020 elections.
