KEY POINTS

  • Ntim Fordjour demands answers on $700 million missing ECG containers.
  • National Security’s evacuation of 706 units raises questions.
  • Energy Ministry failed to mention evacuation during briefings.

Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, Ranking Member of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, has called for full accountability regarding the missing Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) containers. These containers, valued at over $700 million, remain unaccounted for, sparking growing public concern. Fordjour has questioned whether the 706 containers evacuated by National Security were part of the missing 1,340 containers.

In a social media post on April 2, Fordjour voiced his frustration over the lack of transparency in handling the matter. He demanded clear answers on the whereabouts of the missing ECG containers, expressing disbelief over how the situation was being managed.

“Where are the missing ECG containers worth over $700 million? Could these 706 containers evacuated by National Security be part of the missing 1,340 containers?” Fordjour asked. His concerns reflect widespread anxiety about the missing containers and the government’s communication regarding the issue.

National Security’s involvement raises more questions

Fordjour’s comments focused on the role of National Security in the evacuation of the containers. He questioned why this action had not been disclosed in any previous briefings from the Energy Ministry. According to Fordjour, the failure to mention the evacuation is a serious lapse in government communication.

“How come we never heard about this so-called evacuation by National Security in any of the briefings provided by the Energy Minister thus far?” Fordjour wrote in his post.

The absence of clear information has further fueled public distrust, leaving many to wonder if the evacuation could be linked to broader issues within the government’s handling of the ECG container scandal. “We need coherent answers. We need all the containers accounted for!” Fordjour urged, emphasizing that the public deserves a thorough explanation.
