- 2025 WASSCE results accurately reflect student abilities.
- GES works closely with WAEC throughout exams.
- Declining performance remains a concern for teachers and parents.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has confirmed that the 2025 WASSCE results accurately represent the abilities of students.
Daniel Fenyi of GES Public Relations spoke on Monday, December 1. He said GES fully supports WAEC’s position on the outcome.
Fenyi explained that GES staff are deeply involved in exam administration. They act as invigilators and supervisors, ensuring the process is closely monitored. “Indeed, we perfectly agree, and not that we just agree, but we work closely with WAEC,” he said. The collaboration ensures that results mirror students’ true performance levels.
GES staff participate in supervision, monitoring, and coordination throughout the examination period. Fenyi emphasized, “The results you see are a true reflection of the competencies of our learners.” He admitted the outcome is concerning, describing it as painful for the education system and troubling for anyone invested in students’ futures.
Concerns grow over declining performance in 2025 WASSCE results
Fenyi highlighted the efforts teachers put into preparing students over multiple years. “You wouldn’t train your learners for three good years, only for them to churn out these results,” he said. Despite the decline, he insisted that the results remain an honest measure of student competence.
The GES affirmation comes amid national debate over the sharp drop in performance. Officials stress that the outcome should inform improvements in teaching, supervision, and learning practices. Fenyi concluded that while the results are worrying, they reflect the actual performance of learners and the integrity of the examination process.
