Ghana’s Mission in Washington is warning citizens to comply strictly with U.S. immigration laws and avoid overstaying visas.

Deputy Head of Mission Jane Gasu Aheto issued the caution while representing Ambassador Victor Emmanuel Smith at the 40th anniversary celebration of the GaDangme Association in Washington.
Ghana regains multiple-entry visa access
She confirmed that the U.S. has eased restrictions on Ghanaian travellers, restoring eligibility for up to five-year multiple-entry visas. For months, most applicants had been limited to three-month single-entry permits.
Embassy urges strict immigration compliance
While welcoming the policy shift, Aheto urged citizens not to misuse the renewed opportunity. She said any abuse could jeopardize the progress made, emphasizing that respecting U.S. visa rules was key to sustaining the arrangement.
Support for diaspora, call for responsibility
The embassy reaffirmed its commitment to support Ghanaians living and working in the U.S. but underscored that compliance with immigration regulations was essential.
