Ghana’s Cyber Security Authority and CID arrested 39 people in a raid on Adom City Estate, Tema.

Officials described the Thursday, August 21 operation as a major strike against cybercrime networks in the country.

Three minors and a woman suspected as an escort linked to a ringleader were among those arrested.

The arrests followed weeks of intelligence-led surveillance by law enforcement officers before the coordinated operation.

Authorities said the estate had been operating as a suspected cyber fraud hub. Officers stormed the premises under heavy security and seized laptops, phones and other digital devices for forensic analysis.

The CSA said the raid was part of a broader strategy to dismantle online fraud rings and financial scams affecting both individuals and institutions across the country. Officials stressed that cyber-enabled crimes have become a persistent threat, eroding trust in digital platforms and costing victims millions.

According to MyJoyOnline, all 39 suspects are being held in custody and are expected to be transferred to the CID headquarters in Accra for profiling and further questioning, according to police.

The CID confirmed that due process will be followed, particularly in handling the cases of the minors taken into custody. Officials added that the woman detained during the raid is under investigation for alleged ties to one of the key figures behind the scheme.

The CSA urged citizens to remain alert to online fraud, stressing that vigilance is as important as enforcement. The raid follows a series of cybercrime-related operations across Ghana in recent months as authorities step up efforts to stop internet-based criminal networks.
