Mahama thanks Ashanti Region for election support
Despite its reputation as a stronghold of the opposition, President Mahama thanked the region for its substantial support during the 2024 elections in remarks made at the Manhyia Palace during the first Akwasidae Festival of 2025.
“I would want to express my gratitude to Asanteman. Although many may not view this as my party’s stronghold, Mahama stated, “I think that the votes and confidence that the Ashanti Region gave us helped us win this election with a landslide victory.”
“You can rely on me, and I will ensure that the Ashanti Region receives its just share when we share the national cake,” he continued.
President Mahama highlighted his administration’s dedication to the development of the Ashanti Region by stressing the crucial role it played in his election victory.
Plans for a private meeting with the Asantehene to talk about urgent national concerns, such as the Bawku dispute, were also part of the visit.
Promises fair share of national development resources
As part of his larger national development program, the president used the Akwasidae Festival, a traditional highlight for the Ashanti people, as a suitable opportunity to reiterate his commitment to the advancement of the region.
