The overlord of Dagbon, Yaa Naa Abukari II has thanked the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his continued support in the restoration of peace in Dagbon. Yaa Naa speaking emotionally thanked the president for his active participation in bringing to an end the protracted conflict that affected the area and the lives of many people.

The appreciation came during a ceremony where the Dagbon leader thanked Akufo-Addo for his hard work and sacrifice in solving the political and tribal conflicts in the region and bringing hope to the people of Dagbon.

Years of conflict in Dagbon

Dagbon is in northern Ghana and has always been characterized by internal conflict, most of which was as a result of a chieftaincy conflict that took several years. The conflict led to polarization of the people, resulting in strife and political, social and economic strife that has had negative repercussions to the development of human communities in the region.

This was the time when the phase of reconstructing dawned on Dagbon, and its people could start working on progress.
