Ace Liam Nana Sam Ankrah, a gifted one-year-old from Ghana, has captured global attention by becoming the youngest male artist to hold a Guinness World Record (GWR). His mother, Chantelle Eghan, an artist, announced this remarkable achievement at a press conference in Accra on May 14, 2024. The confirmation letter from GWR stated, “We are thrilled to inform you that your application for Youngest Artist (male) has been successful and you are now the Guinness World Records Title Holder!”
Ace Liam’s journey into the art world began at just six months old. Chantelle recounted the moment she discovered her son’s potential: “While learning to crawl, I spread out a piece of unstretched canvas on the floor and dropped some paint on it as a way to keep him busy while I worked on a commission painting. He ended up spreading the paint all over the canvas, creating his first masterpiece titled The Crawl. It was clear that he found a lot of joy in it.”
Since that initial discovery, Ace Liam has created over 20 paintings and garnered significant attention from both national and international media, as well as from the First Lady of Ghana. His works have sparked conversations about art appreciation and the importance of nurturing young talents.
Ace Liam participated in his first group exhibition, The Soundout Premium Exhibition, at the Museum of Science and Technology in Ghana. There, 10 of his artworks were displayed and nine were sold, demonstrating his unique talent and the potential for a bright future in the art world.
Ace Liam’s artistic process is spontaneous and driven by his mood. Chantelle explained, “His abstract paintings are inspired by the world around him; colors, shapes, textures, and his mood. Every painting is an expression of his curiosity and joy in discovering new things.” His painting sessions, which can last from a few minutes to half an hour, are guided by his own choices and preferences.
Following his recognition as the world’s youngest artist, Ace Liam’s family is exploring opportunities for him to receive quality education and further develop his artistic skills. They are considering international scholarship opportunities and avenues for him to sell his artworks globally. Chantelle emphasized the importance of supporting children’s interests from an early age, saying, “Every child is unique, and nurturing their passions can lead to amazing discoveries and achievements.”
On May 22, GWR officially posted about Ace Liam on their website, detailing his achievements and the impact of his work. The story, authored by Vassiliki Bakogianni, highlighted how Ace Liam’s journey began and the support he has received from his mother and the community.
Chantelle’s journey with Ace Liam serves as an inspiration to other parents. She advises them to encourage and support their children’s interests, no matter how early they appear. “Every child is unique, and nurturing their passions can lead to amazing discoveries and achievements,” she said.
For those aspiring to break a world record, Chantelle stressed the importance of thoroughly understanding and following the rules set by GWR. “Read it over and over again before attempting it and remember, the journey and the joy it brings is very fulfilling.”
Ace Liam’s story is a testament to the boundless potential of young talent. As he continues to explore his artistic abilities, the world eagerly anticipates what this gifted toddler will create next. His early success not only highlights his individual talent but also underscores the importance of recognizing and nurturing the abilities of children from a young age.
