Ghana’s Family Health University College (FHUC) has produced 50 new doctors and 165 new nurses and midwives in its ninth graduation ceremony held in Accra. The graduates received their Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB ChB), Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Nursing, and BSc in Midwifery degrees, as well as certificates as Nursing Assistants.
The FHUC is one of the leading private medical schools in Ghana, established in 2013 by the Family Health Hospital Group. It aims to train competent and compassionate health professionals who can meet the health needs of the country and beyond. The FHUC comprises the Family Health Medical School (FHMS) and the Family Health Nursing and Midwifery School (FHNMS).
The graduation ceremony was graced by a renowned physician, Professor Timothy R. B Johnson, who is the Chief Mentor of the FHUC. He advised the new health practitioners to uphold the ethical and moral standards of their profession and to put their patients first. He also encouraged them to pursue lifelong learning and to contribute to the advancement of medical science and practice.
The President of the FHUC, Professor Enyonam Yao Kwawukume, congratulated the graduates for their hard work and perseverance. He urged them to serve the nation with dedication and excellence, especially in rural and deprived areas where health services are scarce. He also challenged them to be innovative and collaborative in finding solutions to the health problems of the society.
The Valedictorians of the FHMS and the FHNMS, Natalie Osei and Laura Doe, respectively, expressed their gratitude to the faculty, staff, and parents who supported them throughout their studies. They also pledged to use their skills and knowledge to make a positive impact on the lives of their patients and communities. They called on their fellow graduates to remain humble, faithful, and resilient in their careers.
The graduation ceremony was a moment of joy and pride for the graduates, their families, and the FHUC. It was also a testament to the quality and relevance of the FHUC’s programs, which are accredited by the National Accreditation Board and the Medical and Dental Council of Ghana.
