Recently, Alan Kyerematen, leader of the Movement for Change, clarified comments made by Stephen Ntim, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) national chairman. Ntim had suggested that their meeting resolved Kyerematen’s concerns as the former trade minister.
However, on Joy News, September 27, 2023, Kyerematen affirmed the meeting but disputed Ntim’s interpretation of its outcome. He stated, “The Chairman’s portrayal is misleading. I’ve previously discussed my concerns with him privately. His claim that all is settled is disheartening.”
Kyerematen highlighted his two main concerns shared during the meeting. The first involved transparency issues regarding the voters roll for the Super Delegates Conference on August 26. The second was about the runoff vote procedures involving Boakye Agyarko and Francis Addai-Nimoh.
Lately, Kyerematen has criticized top NPP officials, including the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, and others. His recent departure from the party in September 2023 emphasizes the internal tensions.
As the NPP grapples with these issues, the key takeaway is the need for transparency, unity, and mutual respect among its members. It’s vital for the party to regroup and focus on the nation’s broader goals.
