According to some accounts, a football fan was stabbed during a Ghana Premier League game in Nsoatre, a suburb in the Bono Ahafo region, and died as a result.

The deceased, Francis Frimpong, also called Pooley, was a staunch advocate for Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

According to rumors, he was fatally stabbed during a Matchday 19 match between Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko, though JoySports has not independently confirmed the specifics.

The witness stated in Twi, “I was sitting directly beneath the club’s owner, Hon. Baffour Awuah, when the altercation broke out on the field.”

He said the technical director of Asante Kotoko, Kwasi Appiah, was also there. Baffour Awuah walked down to try to diffuse the situation when the fight started and motioned for Appiah to join him. But according to reports, several Kotoko executives cautioned Appiah against becoming involved out of concern for his safety.

“Appiah’s disregard for Baffour Awuah infuriated him. He gave the supporters the signal to keep going out of frustration. The witness said, “He incited the fans.”

According to the eyewitness, Pooley was a fair-skinned man with brown shoes, a white shirt, and a Kotoko flag around his neck.

“Oh Honorable, what the fans are doing is not good; tell them to stop,” Pooley remarked as he went up to Hon. Baffour Awuah. However, the eyewitness claimed that the Honourable shoved Pooley because he was irritated.

The witness claims that the ambulance was parked close to the players’ dressing rooms when the stabbing took place in the VIP area.

“When Pooley said his final words, I was with him. “They won’t take me to the hospital, even if there is an ambulance,” he claimed. According to the eyewitness, who identified himself as a hospital employee, they were his final words.

He further mentioned that Pooley was stabbed close to his heart on the upper left side of his chest.

“He was stabbed by a skilled individual. He instructed them to take him to the ambulance after stabbing him.

Although Pooley was taken to the closest hospital, the Nsoatre Ghana Health Service, the witness thinks he passed away at the stadium.

Pooley’s death was confirmed by Asante Kotoko in a statement on Sunday night.
