Mahama pledges real constitutional reforms, not empty promises
Mahama stressed during the committee’s swearing-in ceremony on Thursday, January 30, that the endeavor would mark a turning point in Ghana’s governance rather than just another unfulfilled reform attempt.
He asked the group to thoroughly examine previous suggestions, determine what needs to be changed, and create a clear plan for amending the constitution.
“This will not be a pointless exercise,” Mahama declared. “We are committed to completing this process, and we have complete faith in your ability to produce outcomes that will benefit Ghanaians today and in the future.”
Committee members chosen for integrity and expertise
Justice Sophia Adinyirah, Prof. Kwame Karikari, Mrs. Charlotte Osei, Dr. Godwin Djokoto, Ibrahim Tanko Amidu, and Dr. Esi Ansah are members of the committee, which is chaired by Prof. H. Kwasi Prempeh. The new secretary is Dr. Rainer Akumperigeya.
According to Myjoyonline, Mahama said he was confident in the committee’s makeup, pointing out that members were picked not for political reasons but rather for their honesty, knowledge, and commitment to Ghana’s advancement.
In order to make sure that the updated constitution represents the ideals, ambitions, and goals of all Ghanaians, he also urged them to interact extensively with the populace.
