Ghanaian authorities have extradited a suspected serial armed robber, Adinda Abdu Mujibu, from Togo after months of coordinated investigations and international pursuit. Mujibu, also known by multiple aliases including Adinda Akpo Abdo, was returned to Ghana on May 14, 2025.

The extradition followed months of cross-border collaboration between Ghana and Togo under the 2003 West African Police Chiefs Committee agreement. Interpol provided crucial assistance in the operation.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Lydia Yaako Donkor led a five-member Criminal Investigations Department team to Lomé, where the suspect was formally handed over by Togolese officials in the presence of Ghana Embassy staff.

Mujibu had been on the run since 2023 after escaping a police raid in Ghana.

Notorious criminal linked to violent Accra robberies

The Accra robbery suspect extradited from Togo is believed to have masterminded several violent robberies between 2022 and 2024 in upscale areas including East Legon, Airport Residential, Ridge, Cantonments, and Tesano.

Authorities say the suspect operated under multiple identities — including Rashid Bawa, Papa Rich, and Dawa — making it difficult to track him initially. He reportedly used both Ghanaian and Togolese identification to elude capture.

CCTV footage implicating him had been widely shared on social media, prompting public outcry and pressure on law enforcement agencies.

The man was eventually apprehended in Lomé on January 10, 2025, and was held under close watch until his return to Ghana.

Police vow no escape for high-profile robbery suspect

At a press briefing in Accra on May 17, DCOP Donkor assured the public that the Accra robbery suspect extradited is being held in a high-security location.

“There is no way he’s going to escape under any circumstances,” she stated.

She also disclosed that another accomplice, Alidu Marzouk, was arrested in September 2024 and remains in custody. Investigators are contacting victims to aid evidence collection.

The public has been urged to continue reporting suspicious behavior to aid ongoing investigations, as other suspects connected to the gang remain at large.
