The National Service Authority (NSA) has announced that all national service personnel will begin basic military training on August 3, 2025.
The new training program is part of the National Service Emergency Response Readiness Programme (NSERRP). This initiative will expose recruits to essential military drills and provide them with a solid orientation.
Training program promotes discipline and patriotism
This decision follows a meeting on April 23, 2025, between NSA leadership and the Military High Command. The main goal of the program is to instill discipline, physical readiness, and patriotism in the youth.
These objectives align with President John Dramani Mahama’s proposal during his State of the Nation Address in February 2025. He had called for short-term military training for graduates to help strengthen national values.
Military support ensures smooth program rollout
Felix Gyamfi, Director-General of the NSA, highlighted the importance of this training as a significant step toward national progress, particularly for the youth.
He emphasized that this initiative would help “reset” the country and instill key values in young people. The program will involve up to two months of composite military drills, forming an essential part of the national service experience.
Although final details are still in the works, the NSA is coordinating with relevant agencies to ensure all logistical arrangements are completed before the program begins in August.
Brigadier General Amoah-Boakye, representing the Military High Command, assured the NSA of the Armed Forces’ readiness to fully support the initiative.
This collaboration highlights the government’s commitment to preparing the youth to play an active role in national development.ded to contribute to the nation’s growth.
