In an interview, Dr. Baah said that Akufo-Addo became unpopular and acted irresponsibly, leading to the NPP’s downfall. Dr. Baah emphasised that Akufo-Addo campaigned against some of his party members, even threatening MPs. “If I were the chairman, I would have thrown him out of the party,” Dr. Baah said.
He further criticised NPP Chairman Stephen Ayesu Ntim for allowing Akufo-Addo’s unchecked behaviour. Dr. Baah claimed that the former president had too much control over the party, which led to negative consequences.
“He hijacked the whole party,” he added, saying the party should not be influenced by one person’s decisions.

According to MyJoyOnline, Dr. Baah vowed to resist any attempts by Akufo-Addo to control the NPP’s future. He argued that if the former president wanted to help the party, he should step aside and let others lead. “If you want your party to do well, this is an indication that you have become very unpopular and should step aside,” Dr. Baah said.
Dr. Baah also pointed to Akufo-Addo’s refusal to reshuffle his appointees as another contributing factor to the NPP’s defeat. He criticised the lack of change despite public outcry, which he believes led to the party’s poor performance in the 2024 election.
