Martin Amoah, also known as Augustine Amoah or “Baba Macho,” is wanted by the Ashanti Regional Police Command on suspicion of robbing and killing a mobile money salesman in Kumasi. According to the police, he is a dangerous fugitive who is either hiding in Accra, Dunkwa-on-Offin, Kumasi, or the Central Region.

According to Joynews, in relation to the recent robbery and murder of two mobile money vendors in the Ashanti Region, three individuals have already been taken into custody. Three mobile money merchants have been killed in different events in Kumasi over the last two months, which has caused panic and anxiety in the community.
Recent murders spark fear among Kumasi’s mobile money vendors.
Two of the three recent murders involved the use of guns. Patricia Nimako was robbed and slain in front of her MoMo store in Krofrom on Thursday, February 13. The second was the robbery and murder of Gideon Owusu Sarpong, popularly known as “Junior,” at his Kwadaso home on the evening of Monday, March 10.
The suspects that were taken into custody are Samuel Audae Mensah, 42; Philip Foujour, 29; and Charles Kwame Danso, 23, also referred to as “Kwame Charles” or “Miami.” Their arrests in Pankrono and Atimatim on March 21 were verified by the Ashanti Regional Police Command.
Amoah is still at large, and Deputy Commissioner of Police Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe has called on the public to assist in finding him.
“Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is urged to contact the police via the toll-free number 191 or 112 (18555 MTN and Telecel),” he stated.
The public has been reassured by the Ashanti Regional Police Command that measures are being taken to protect mobile money businesses and the general public.
The police commander stated, “The Ashanti Regional Police Command is steadfast in its commitment to seeing that justice is done and encourages the public to continue being watchful in order to assist in bringing all accountable parties to justice.” The suspects will appear in court after being placed under police custody.
Increased police presence, unregistered motorcycle arrests, safety training for MoMo vendors, and initiatives to combat illicit gun possession were among the strategies previously presented by the Ashanti Regional Security Council to lower the number of robberies.
