Bodies of Ghana Helicopter Crash Victims Returned

Military confirms remains of all eight personnel from Sikaman crash have arrived in Accra ahead of funeral arrangements

The Ghana Armed Forces has confirmed that the remains of all eight victims of Wednesday’s Z-9 military helicopter crash have been flown to Accra for burial preparations.

The bodies were recovered near Sikaman, in the Adansi Akrofuom district of the Ashanti Region, and transported to the capital on a Ghana Air Force Casa aircraft on August 6. They were received at a somber ceremony at the Air Force Base in Accra.

Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Hon. Julius Debrah, joined senior military officials, families, and well-wishers to receive the fallen service members during a solemn handover.

The remains have since been transferred to the 37 Military Hospital morgue, pending interment.

Military confirms helicopter crash victims’ identities

A statement signed by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director General of Public Relations, expressed the Ghana Armed Forces’ gratitude to residents of Sikaman and security personnel who aided the search and recovery efforts.

The statement also conveyed condolences from the Deputy Minister for Defence, Hon. Brogya Genfi, to the bereaved families, calling it a “difficult national tragedy.”

Funeral details for crash victims expected soon

Funeral arrangements for the crash victims are expected to be announced in the coming days, the military said.

In the meantime, the country remains in mourning as the Armed Forces and civilian sympathizers pay tribute to the eight lives lost in service.
