Apostle Lilian Kumah, the widow of the late John Kumah, has shared the emotional struggles her family has faced since his passing.
During a thanksgiving service on March 6, 2025, marking the one-year anniversary of his death, she revealed the depth of pain her family has endured, including betrayals, disappointments, and rejections from people they once trusted.
In her heartfelt message, she expressed the hurt of those close to them turning their backs.
“What is painful is the disappointment, the betrayals, the rejections. People we thought would be there — the way they turned their backs on us. The lies, the deceptions,” she said.
Despite these challenges, Apostle Lilian Kumah also spoke of the faithfulness of God, who has sustained her family through this painful time.
She emphasized that while the family deeply misses John Kumah, they have experienced divine strength and support.
“Through it all, God has shown us that He is even more of a husband, father, and brother than John. He has kept us, sustained us, and we are still moving on,” she shared.
A Tribute to John Kumah
John Kumah, the former Deputy Minister of Finance and Member of Parliament for Ejisu, passed away on March 7, 2024, at the age of 45. His death followed a lengthy battle with illness.
Kumah, appointed as Deputy Minister of Finance by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in January 2021, was also an entrepreneur, preacher, and lawyer.
He served as the CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) before entering Parliament in 2020.
In his short career, Kumah was regarded as a rising star within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and was seen by many as a potential running mate for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Despite his untimely death, he had secured the party’s nomination to represent Ejisu in the 2024 elections.

John Kumah is survived by his wife, Apostle Lilian Kumah, and their six children. His passing has left a significant void, but the family continues to honor his legacy, even as they navigate the hardships of life without him.
