Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, the Member of Parliament for Assin South, has called on National Security to disclose detailed information about two flights that landed in Ghana in early March and departed for Gran Canaria, a Spanish island, on March 25.
According to MyJoyOnline, Fordjour, a former Deputy Minister of Education, raised concerns over the secrecy surrounding the flights and demanded that authorities clarify the cargo and purpose of the aircraft.
Calls for full disclosure of aircraft details
Fordjour shared his concerns in an interview with JoyNews’ “The Pulse” on Tuesday, April 1. He emphasized the need for full transparency, as the aircraft remained in the country for several days before their departure. He questioned why National Security had not yet provided a full account of the planes’ purpose, despite the public release of registration numbers and flight details.
“Why haven’t the authorities disclosed everything to the public?” Fordjour asked during the interview. “If there’s nothing to hide, why not come forward with all the details? The longer they avoid making disclosures, the more suspicious it becomes.”
Urging transparency for trust in governance
The two aircraft in question include an air ambulance and a private jet. According to Fordjour, both planes remained in Ghana for several days before departing for Gran Canaria. He said that the registration numbers of the planes, along with other flight details, had already been shared publicly, adding to the pressure on authorities to explain the situation.
Fordjour stressed that government officials should be transparent and consistent in their disclosures. He emphasized that such openness is crucial for maintaining trust in the government and democratic processes.
