Ghanaian scholarship students struggle with unpaid tuition fees
On Sunday, February 16, Kwadwo Owusu Afrifa, a scholarship student at Brunel University London, stated on JoyNews, the Law that many students are facing serious disruptions in their education as a result of unpaid fees.
He clarified that a number of student-Ghana Scholarship Secretariat (GSS) scholarship agreements have been canceled, suspended, or are in danger of being disrupted. Many students have been left stuck as a result of financial obligations being transferred to them.
Academic disruptions leave students stranded and in distress
According to Afrifa, “many of our colleagues have been locked out of their university systems.” “This means they are unable to access basic university IT services, such as academic portals, lecture notes, and library resources.”
He compared losing a passport to education to losing entrance to a university. Students cannot attend lectures, access study materials, or interact with faculty members without it. He claimed that many students are in anguish as a result of the circumstance, finding it difficult to pursue their studies without institutional access or financial assistance.
In order to avoid more academic interruptions, Afrifa and other impacted students urged the Ghanaian government to immediately address scholarship payout delays.
