A 13-bedroom home in Ghana’s Ashanti Region’s Oforikrom Gaoline community was destroyed by fire on Wednesday, displacing many families and damaging valuables valued at thousands of Ghanaian cedis.
Midday fire devastates 13-bedroom house in Oforikrom Gaoline
Residents were in a panic as they rushed to save their possessions after the fire, which started around noon. Until firefighters from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) fire station arrived to contain the fire and stop it from spreading to neighboring residences, witnesses stated the flames kept expanding.
According to Myjoyonline, an eyewitness reported, “We just heard people shouting that the building was on fire.” Before the fire department arrived, a few local young guys attempted to contain the fire. When it began, many adults were out and the majority of the kids were at school.
Victims left stranded with no belongings after fire outbreak
According to Madam Assana, whose sister was impacted, they were unable to recover any property.
She remarked, “The news of the fire has really affected my twin sister, who is pregnant.” “Not much could be salvaged.”
Within two hours, firefighters put out the fire, and they are now looking into what caused it.
Since the start of 2025, 183 fire incidents have been reported in the Ashanti Region. Among the most severely affected are major marketplaces such as Kwadaso Wood Market, Asafo Market, and Kejetia Market.
