 Volta NDC Chairman Urges Members to Manage Expectations of President

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Volta Regional Chairman, Mawutor Agbavitor, has urged party officials and members to lower their expectations for President John Dramani Mahama and his government.

“The sun will surely shine high on the Volta Region,” Agbavitor told the people during the President’s thank-you trip in Ho on Friday, promising a bright future for the area. He thanked the President for assigning people from the area to important positions in the government.

To honor the resounding support and votes he earned in the 2024 elections, President Mahama started his thank-you tour in the Volta Region. The President thanked the people deeply and referred to the area as a pillar of the NDC and a lighthouse of democracy.

Mahama made it clear that his selections are made on the basis of qualifications and performance. In order to capitalize on the region’s abundant tourism potential, he mentioned Madam Dzifa Abla Gomashie’s nomination as Minister of Tourism. The President added that Kwame Governs Agbodza, Minister of Roads and Highways, is anticipated to take the lead in maintaining and enhancing the area’s road system.

According to Myjoyonline, the president reaffirmed his dedication to addressing the Volta Region’s needs and utilizing its strategic significance for the advancement of the country.

Agbavitor emphasized the region’s crucial role in the NDC’s victory in the general election of 2024, pointing to the party’s 90.11% turnout, regaining the Hohoe parliamentary seat, and sweeping all of the region’s seats. The opposition’s influence was cut by 48% by the NDC, he continued, and he was hopeful that subsequent initiatives would bring the difference down to single digits.

Chiefs pledge support for Mahama’s Resetting Ghana Agenda

The chiefs’ support for President Mahama’s “Resetting Ghana Agenda” was reiterated by Togbe Patamia Dzekle VII, Paramount Chief of Bator and Vice President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs. He called on the president to keep his campaign pledges and follow traditional elders’ counsel.

Agbogbomefia of Asogli State, Togbe Afede XIV, praised the President for naming ministers so quickly and encouraged him to address urgent problems, such as Ho’s water deficit and the region’s road system.

The chairman of the Volta Region’s Christian Episcopal Association, Rev. Seth Mawutor, urged locals to be patient and offer up prayers for the president’s success. He underlined that everyone must work together to overcome the obstacles in order to guarantee that the administration fulfills its commitments.
