Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony of six ministers, Mahama reminded his appointees of their responsibility to serve the people who entrusted them with leadership.

“We must exhibit tolerance for their views and work to meet their aspirations. This government will not tolerate arrogance or disrespect for the people who elected us into office,” Mahama said.

Upholding accountability and transparency

President Mahama reaffirmed his government’s commitment to good governance and accountability, stating that Ghanaians have made their expectations clear through the ballot box.

“As I pointed out during my inaugural speech, Ghanaians have declared their intention to demand the highest standards of governance, and we cannot afford to fail them,” he said.

According to Graphic Online, Mahama also warned his ministers against any form of corruption, emphasizing that anti-corruption institutions will be fully empowered to investigate and prosecute wrongdoing.

“The people of Ghana will hold us accountable for the trust they have placed in our hands. It cannot be business as usual. We must be transparent and fair in all our dealings,” he added.

Mahama thanked Parliament for approving the appointees and commended the ministers for their willingness to serve the nation. He encouraged public officials to work together to achieve the wishes of Ghanaians while maintaining responsible government decisions.

The President recognized that his government stands alongside prior administrations in pursuing their common objectives. “The state economy stands to benefit a lot from continuity as it ensures the alignment of goals and sustainability of projects,” he noted.
