Parts of the well-known Honeysuckle Pub and Restaurant in Labone were damaged after a fire broke out there on Saturday, October 26 at approximately 5 p.m. The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) acted quickly to contain the fire in the restaurant’s kitchen, limiting additional damage to other areas of the bar.
GNFS and ECG coordinate for rapid response
Assistant Division Officer Alex King Nartey provided an update, stating that GNFS firefighters contained the fire in a timely and efficient manner. The GNFS posted the information on its official Facebook page, and Nartey emphasised how the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and the GNFS worked together to handle the situation. The response effort was led by firefighters from the Headquarters and Trade Fair Fire Stations, who were sent to the location.
Quick action saves the main dining area valuable
The pub’s kitchen and its contents were damaged in the incident. No casualties were reported, despite the kitchen suffering some partial damage. Many valuables were saved from the flames by the skilled firefighters who quickly and effectively stopped the intense fire from spreading to the pub’s seating area, according to GNFS’s Facebook page.
By 6:15 p.m., firefighters were able to put out the fire, sparing the establishment from significant damage. In addition to saving the major dining and seating areas of the facility, the prompt containment also rescued a large portion of the pub’s priceless furnishings and equipment, according to MyJoyOnline.
ECG officials were also on the scene to assist with safety measures, cutting off power in the impacted area to protect responders and reduce the possibility of rekindling the fire as it was being put out. ECG employees further reduced potential risks and made the working environment safer for firefighters by turning off the electricity.
“Ayekoo to the firefighting crew from Headquarters and Trade Fair Fire Stations for saving the Honeysuckle Pub from fire ruins,” the GNFS wrote in a statement expressing gratitude for the commitment of its workers.
The GNFS and ECG are anticipated to collaborate closely in identifying the source of the fire, even if the cause is still being investigated. Both authorities have reaffirmed their dedication to public safety, and their coordinated response highlights the need for cooperation and prompt action in handling situations.
