Oppong, who lives in the Birim Central Municipality’s Akyem Oda Old Town, was last seen by his family on the evening of October 21 as he left for work as normal. He was dependable and trustworthy, and although he frequently worked late into the night, he would let his family know if he expected any delays. His family started contacting friends and neighbours to enquire about his whereabouts after he did not return that evening.

He was not to be found for days, and the family’s search turned up nothing. By Friday, October 25, locals discovered a body in an unfinished structure close to Royal Mount Calvary and alerted Akyem Swedru police to a worrisome scenario. Oppong was recognised as the deceased after the police, under the direction of District Commander Philip Nketia, examined the scene.

According to MyJoyOnline, Akyem Oda and the surrounding areas, where Oppong was well-known and revered, have been rocked by the finding. He is remembered by the community as a hard worker who was also a devoted husband and father to his three children. Oppong was referred to as a “pillar of the community” by his relatives, who also expressed their profound sorrow over the terrible development.

The circumstances behind Oppong’s death are currently being investigated by authorities. Although they have not yet named any suspects, the authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding his disappearance and eventual demise. In an effort to bring closure and stop future occurrences of this kind in the community, family members have called for a comprehensive investigation.

Family urges thorough investigation into tragic discovery

“We are devastated by this loss,” a representative for the family claimed. “We have faith that the police will investigate all leads to learn Charles’s fate. He is entitled to justice.

The family’s demands for a thorough inquiry have been backed by locals and community leaders, some of whom have voiced worries about possible threats in the area. According to local media, residents have reportedly voiced concerns about security in recent years, especially in relation to unfinished buildings that are frequently left open and unattended.

Oppong’s family and friends are left in sadness at his unexpected passing while police continue their investigation, hoping that answers will soon be found in this tragic case.
