Attorney-General Files Opposition to Probe Application Over Alleged Misconduct

Godfred Yeboah Dame, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, has publicly resisted an application that was filed by Dr. Ato Forson in a recent development that has drawn national attention. The application aims to start an investigation by the High Court into Dame’s actions in a pending lawsuit. Two people are charged in this case with purposefully inflicting financial losses to the state.

Serious accusations concerning the Attorney-General’s conduct throughout the trial have been made by Dr. Ato Forson, the Minority Leader in Parliament and the main defendant in a controversial ambulance procurement issue. Richard Jakpa, the third accused in the case, made remarks that alarmed him. He said that Dame tried to enlist him as part of a plot to make the case against Forson stronger.

Serious accusations concerning the Attorney-General’s conduct throughout the trial have been made by Dr. Ato Forson, the Minority Leader in Parliament and the main defendant in a contentious ambulance procurement issue. Richard Jakpa, the third accused in the case, made remarks that alarmed him. He said that Dame tried to enlist him as part of a plot to make the case against Forson stronger.

Dame has fiercely denied the allegations, characterizing them as a calculated move by Forson to avoid accountability for his conduct as a public servant, which the state is said to have suffered large financial losses from. A Principal State Attorney for Dame stated in his affidavit that Forson’s charges were “loaded with bogus allegations,” intended to raise questions about the court’s capacity to administer justice.

Dame insists that the court has remained unbiased and that the proceedings’ legitimacy has not been jeopardized in spite of the contentious accusations made against him. He stressed that, in accordance with common law customs, every accusation was thoroughly investigated in an open court environment, giving each side plenty of chance to refute the evidence put out.

The affidavit states that it would be improper to allow Forson to avoid responsibility due to “manufactured allegations” as the case moves forward. It states that the court has acted in an open and fair manner throughout its processes, guaranteeing the integrity of the legal system.
